Royal Montserrat Police Service: On September 28, 2024, the Marine Unit within the Royal Montserrat Police Service responded to a report received about something that appeared to be a wreckage off the coast of Redonda.

A search of the area revealed that a blue and white fishing vessel had run aground on the eastern side of Redonda. A closer examination of the vessel disclose evidence that suggested that paint was used to hide the identity of the vessel.

There was no sign of human life in the area. According to the description of the vessel it appears not to be a local vessel.

Acting Commissioner of Police Andrew Lewis expressed a special thanks to the individual that shared their observation with the RMPS.

He is also encouraging members of the community to continue to share information or concerns with their Community Beat Officers or any member of the Royal Montserrat Police Service.

Acting Commissioner Lewis indicated that checks are ongoing with neighboring Marine Units to ascertain if there is any report of a missing vessel or person.

Acting Commissioner Lewis is reminding all fisher folks of the importance of having and using their safety gear when out at sea.
