Approximately 20 volunteers from several disaster districts are being trained to be part of Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT).

The three-day training began on Wednesday 28th August 2024 at the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) and has been looking at topics such as basic disaster management, basic fire safety, basic first aid and emergency telecommunications.

These individuals will be part of the national volunteer system who will be working with the district disaster coordinators to deal with situations relating to hazards and disasters in the island’s 17 districts.
The initiative is being funded by US AID’s Office for Foreign Direct Assistance represented by Mr. Terry Morris.
