GIS Antigua & Barbuda: Training of fire officers to facilitate the operations of the new Barbuda International Airport is nearing completion.
The eleven fire fighters have been engaged in training from Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
The training is geared at reaching International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, and focussed on the following areas:
1. Airport familiarization
3. Rescue and fire fighting personal safety
4. Use of extinguishing agents for ARFF
5. Emergency aircraft evacuation
6. Tactical ARFF fire ground operation
7. Attacking an aircraft fire
8. Maximizing the use of HRET
9. Response time
10. self-contained breathing apparatus donning, doffing and maintenance.
The new Barbuda International Airport is set to open in the coming weeks.
