CDEMA – As the region responds to the multi-island impact caused by Hurricane Beryl, the Caribbean Partner Development Group met today pledging to support and coordinate response to Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

These included the United Nations, CARICOM, Private Sector agencies as well as operational and technical support from the Participating States.
Executive Director of CDEMA, Ms. Elizabeth Riley arrived in SVG this afternoon where she conducted aerial reconnaissance with Ms. Michelle Forbes, Director of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO).

This allowed for a comprehensive view the twin island state of SVG as well as the Tri-Island State of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, to identify strategic support needed.
CDEMA’s Rapid Needs Assessment Team and CARICOM Emergency Telecommunications Team departed today at 4:40pm for SVG via a Guyana Defence Force aircraft, with coordination support from the Regional Security System, to commence damage assessments.

Relief support has commenced in Grenada with the arrival of relief supplies including batteries, water purification tablets and hygiene items from Guyana. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) of St. Kitts and Nevis is preparing to send supplies to SVG and Grenada.
The Regional Coordination Centre continues to monitor the passage Hurricane Beryl and forecasts of further impact to CDEMA’s Participating States.
