Dale C. S. Destin – June 22, 2024: It’s another summer, and the Atlantic hurricane season is here, and it could be one of the most active and busy on record.

My updated forecast is out, and we continue to call for an active or above-normal season with it being more likely than not a well above normal or a super hyperactive one.
The updated prediction is for 24 named storms, 11 hurricanes, 5 major hurricanes and an accumulated cyclone energy index (ACE) of 212.

Comparing the three forecasts issued since April, the numbers appear to be trending downwards, suggesting that although an active season is still expected, it may not be as active as initially forecast.
The ACE has dropped from 233 in April to 218 in May and now 212 in the June forecast. This is a modest 9% reduction in forecast activity from April to June.
