Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) – Please be advised that the closed season for the Spiny Lobster begins May 1st to June 30th 2024.

During the closed season, no person shall fish for, take, place for sale, purchase or have in his possession of lobster.

It is also illegal to harm, take, have in your possession, place for sale or purchase lobster:

• Carrying eggs

• Lobster which is molting (soft-shelled)

• Undersized lobster (less than 95 mm or 3 3/4”)

• Lobster with a tar spot

Anyone who breaches this regulation commits an offence under the Fisheries Regulations and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding fifty thousand dollars (XCD50,000.00).

Closed seasons are put in place to ensure that our marine resources remain sustainable.
