Dale C. S. Destin – Published 21 March 2024 | Introduction: As we mark World Meteorological Day 2024, the theme “At the Frontline of Climate Action” resonates profoundly in our rapidly changing world.

Climate change presents one of the greatest challenges of our time, impacting communities, ecosystems, and economies worldwide.
In this blog post, we celebrate the crucial role of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and meteorological offices, across the globe, like the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service, as frontline warriors, in leading the charge against climate change.

The WMO: At the forefront of global meteorological efforts stands the WMO. Established in 1950, the WMO serves as the specialized agency of the United Nations for meteorology, climate and water-related issues.
With a network of member countries and territories, such as Antigua and Barbuda, the WMO facilitates international cooperation and coordination in meteorological research, observations, and services.
