World Food Programme (WFP) – It’s exactly 3 months before the start of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane season. The Caribbean is ranked as the second most hazard prone area in the world.

A single impact has left countries with losses amounting to 200 percent of GDP. Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Caribbean region are on the frontlines of the #ClimateCrisis.

With support from the #WFPCaribbean team the Caribbean is better prepared. Last year, emergency responders in Antigua & Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago were trained in Humanitarian Logistics.

They joined the cadre of others also trained in 2022. Through this training they are ready to provide emergency response in their home countries and the rest of the Caribbean.

Looking ahead to the 2024 Hurricane season, #WFPCaribbean continues to engage with disaster management agencies and humanitarian partners to provide access to critical resources.
