ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, February 11, 2024— Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) has announced that their Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services have resumed.

Medical Director, Dr. Albert Duncan said services from the imaging unit were all affected due to a faulty chiller system resulting in significant down time.

“We have been working tirelessly to bring this service back on line as it represents a crucial arm of diagnostics for clinicians in their day-to-day care of our patients,” he said.

“We want to thank the community for your understanding over the past few months”, the Medical Director continued. “Your patience for the months to come while we recover and adjust back to providing a full range of services will also be much appreciated as there may be a higher demand for appointments initially.”

“Thank you as well to all my colleagues across our hospital and community services for their focus on patient care, dedication and positive attitude over what has been a very challenging time for SLBMC.”

“Following a thorough review of our equipment and ensuring all necessary maintenance and upgrades have been completed, we are confident in providing you with the highest quality MRI services once again.

Our dedicated team of experienced radiologic technologists, technicians, and support staff are ready to assist you throughout the process and ensure a safe and comfortable experience.”
