Montserrat Disaster Management Coordination Agency-DMCA – The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC) in Trinidad recorded eleven (11) earthquakes in the Eastern Caribbean between Friday, 1 December 2023 and Tuesday, 5 December 2023.

Ten (10) of the earthquakes occurred in the vicinity of Montserrat, Antigua and Barbuda and Guadeloupe.

Residents and visitors should learn and practice what to do during an earthquake, whether at home, work, school or travelling.

When the ground starts to shake remember three things: drop, cover, hold on. These actions during an earthquake can save lives and reduce the risk of injury.

Drop to the floor or ground. Cover your head and body by getting under something sturdy like a table, desk, or bench. Hold on (to the legs of the table, for example) and stay there until the shaking stops. Be Prepared for the Unexpected!
