November 25th was observed as International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls. It is also the official start of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign.

The #16DaysOfActivism Campaign runs annually from the 25th of November until the 10th of December, which is International Human Rights Day.

It was started by activists in 1991 and has grown into a global organizing strategy by individuals and organizations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls, which is the most pervasive human rights violation worldwide.
