National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) – A team from NODS, headed by Director Sherrod James travelled to Barbuda on Monday to deliver minor relief items, assess damage and continue planning activities following the passage of Hurricane Tammy on Saturday 21st October, 2023.

The team met with the District Disaster Coordinator Tessa Webber and five persons who were still in shelter at the Fisheries Complex. Several areas were visited to assess mitigation options including the Sir McChesney George Secondary School and talks held with the Principal Mr. Rexford Harry.

The team also met with the Barbuda Council Disaster Representative Wayde Burton and Health Secretary Kerry Williams to discuss the way forward to improve disaster management, communication, response and relief operations.

There was light to moderate wind damage to structures on Barbuda and some level of flooding from Hurricane Tammy which passed as a category one cyclone on Saturday.
