July 24, 2023 – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) continues to facilitate the annual CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit or (CDRU) Training in Georgetown, Guyana.

Thirty-four (34) members of the disciplined forces (Military/Police/Fire) from across CDEMA’s 19 Participating States (PSs) are taking part in the workshop.

The CDRU is one of the Emergency Regional Response teams of the Regional Response Mechanism (RRM) which are mobilized to support emergency response functions in any of the Participating States impacted by any hazard.

The mission of the CDRU includes the coordination of relief supplies, the provision of support for emergency telecommunications as well as the provision of an initial team for reparation of critical lifeline facilities.
