National Hurricane Center (NHC) – At 500 PM AST (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Don was located near latitude 40.1 North, longitude 50.0 West. Don is moving toward the north near 12 mph (19 km/h).

A northeastward turn is expected later tonight or early Sunday, and a northeastward to east-northeastward motion should continue until the system dissipates Monday night or early Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 75 mph (120 km/h) with higher gusts. Steady weakening should begin later tonight or early Sunday, and Don is forecast to become a post-tropical cyclone Sunday night.

Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km). The estimated minimum central pressure is 988 mb (29.18 inches).
