On Monday July 10th 2023 at about 4:28 PM residents in Antigua and Barbuda were shaken from their afternoon activities as a strong earthquake was felt across most parts of the islands.

As the shaking subsided, social media platforms were buzzing with persons reporting that they “felt it”. The reports stated that the quake was strong in some areas and weak in others.

Persons living on nearby islands such as Montserrat, Anguilla, St Maarten, Guadeloupe, St. Kitts and Nevis also reported that they felt the earth shaking around the same time.
