NATIONAL OFFICE OF DISASTER SERVICES (NODS) – A two-day workshop on Initial Damage Assessment (IDA) commenced on Thursday, June 15th 2023, at the Multi-purpose Cultural Centre targeting volunteers from the disaster districts throughout the island.

Thirty-three individuals participated in the interactive sessions sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (US AID).

Some of the sessions focused on the requirements for conducting an assessment after a disaster which includes trained and committed personnel and pre-impact data.

The participants were also introduced to the Kobo Toolkit, an electronic format for collecting data which NODS recently started utilising. The over 30 participants were presented with certificates after the successful completion of the training.

The main facilitators representing USAID – Terry Morris and Livingston Pemberton were also presented with tokens of appreciation by participants.
